Landesmusikakademie Sachsen (Saxony Academy of Music) is located in the heart of the region between its three main cities: Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz. It’s hidden behind the thick walls of Colditz Castle, which was a notorious high-security prison for Allied officers in WWII and the scene of many bold, ingenious escape attempts by British, Dutch and French inmates.
These days, instead of escaping from Colditz, musicians seeking ideal rehearsal facilities should make it their destination! The castle is now home to specially designed, purpose-built, soundproof studios containing exquisite pianos and percussion as well as advanced recording equipment in a unique historic setting.
Landesmusikakademie Sachsen is the central rehearsal venue used by Saxon amateur choirs, orchestras and other ensembles of all ages, including the Saxon Youth Orchestra and Jazz Youth Orchestra. In addition to welcoming musicians from all over the world, it’s also used as an event venue, conference centre and training facility.
