Saxony Academy of Music – A music rehearsal centre at Colditz Castle in the heart of Saxony

The Saxony Academy of Music at Colditz Castle is the vibrant centre of Saxon amateur music. Purpose-built in 2008/09 in a wing of the gigantic castle enthroned high above the small town of Colditz, it has since become a magnet for amateur and professional choirs, orchestras, bands and ensembles mainly from Saxony and Brandenburg, but also for guests from all over Germany, Europe and even from other continents.

The venue provides a unique setting for group sessions, intensive courses, choir and orchestra rehearsals as well as training courses for music teachers, artistic directors etc.

At the heart of the centre is the multipurpose chamber concert hall (capacity up to 120 choristers or up to 80 orchestra musicians) with a Steinway grand piano model B, high ceiling, great acoustics, choir risers, special chairs, comfortable music stands and stage lighting system.

Furthermore, there are 7 rehearsal studios between 20 and 70 sq m, each with a Förster grand piano or a Förster piano and equipped to your needs plus 3 large rehearsal rooms between 70 and 100 sq m with improved acoustics in the adjacent youth hostel.

The Saxony Academy of Music provides ideal conditions for orchestra rehearsals when many rooms for sectional rehearsals are needed, for school projects encompassing many different ensembles and activities as well as summer music camps for young people.
